Including new fluid I should be at around $800.00 after rebuild.
you could have bought an 01E for that

That's a fact. But it's all the other parts required - driveshaft, front axles, shift mechanism, subframe, mounts, flywheel, clutch etc that add up to a lot.

Then throw in labout, it's not a cheap exercise.

true. it would be easier with the v6 since the shafts are all the same. Always forgetting the 1.8 uses smaller axels.

I'm having similar problems with my 2nd gear. Slippage in the low side of gear. I changed the radiator, as well as several other things in the build, so I've changed the tranny fluid. Still there. to be honest i dont know if i would try to re build it myself....

I had a small set back, as you can see in the picture the reverse gear piston was cracked. I ordered one from ebay should be here friday.

Most of the transmission is rebuilt pictures to come.

The new reverse gear piston came today. I rebuilt the drum and all the parts will go in the transmission housing today.

The tool in the picture is the only special tool I used in the rebuild, this is to compress the spring cups. There are around 6 spring cups that must be removed to get to some o'rings that need to be replaced.
