Default Transmission Multifunction switch "adjustment"

core question; I was told that after replacing the Multi Function Switch on the automatic transmission of a '99 A4 Avant it needs to be "adjusted" to match the gear box, the term "adjustment pin" was used

this makes no sense, I can not see any possibility to adjust nor a pin

the symptoms are that the gearbox seems to have no reverse and only 1st forward,
the display does NOT indicate Limp mode
VAG-com does not give any fault codes (except brake light switch intermittent)

I changed MF switch
I tried different computer with no change in symptoms

VAG-com shows correct selector switch position and changing of solenoid outputs accordingly

any advise welcome

Did you mark the position of the clock gear when you changed the switch? You might have put in on incorrectly. This is the only write up i could find that can help you, buy a bentley manual. http://forums.audiworld.com/showthread.php?t=333745

Default If you look at the switch mounting holes

You will see one that is an elongated or slotted mounting hole. This allows the switch to move so that you can make the final adjustment.

The adjustment consist of just moving the switch so that the engine will only start in P or N. Just have someone start the car in P, and then have them start the car in N. Adjust the switch so the car only starts in those two position.

Default Hey Dutch!

I am having the exact problem. I have changed the neutral switch, tried another TCM, and even did the tiptronic fix ( tip is now lighting up). I still have no reverse(even when I force it into limp home mode)...and it will not shift from 1st to 2nd. I am getting NO codes whatsoever....I would think if the trans was going bad, it would be throwing all kinds of codes...I was leaning towards a bad solenoid or two myself. Could you please let me know what you did to resolve your problem? thanks in advance.
