Default Transmission problem

hello!!!

i have an audi a4 2.8 v6 quattro 1998 automatic triptronic.

My transmission finally broke down, my mechanic told me that is better to buy a used transmission rather than buy a new oem transmission pump and a rebuilt torque converter. the thing is that the second option it's cheaper than the first one, but my mechanic is skeptical about oem products. What should i do????

go to a junk yard and see if u can get a decent tranny off a 2.8 b5 and have the mechanic install it, then scrap your old one so u can get some money from it

why does your mechanic have a problem with rebuilts? i dont see why that would be a bad idea i know lots of people who've done that without a problem. i say rebuild it

if you do wanna get a used one though just make sure you know how many miles are on it and you know it works. i got lucky and found a manual tranny with only 16k on it for only $700 at a junkyard.

Why is he skeptical about OEM? He should be skeptical about LKQ (junkyard), you have no idea how the previous owner drove that vehicle and no idea how beat up the internals are until you actually use it.

Nobody wants to rebuild a tip tranny. Nobody wants to pay the cost for a rebuilt tranny. Try to find a lower mileage tranny from www.car-part.com Most places gaurantee it to work and have some kind of waranty/return policy.
