True Mileage?
Is there any other way to tell the mileage of the vehicle other than the odometer? I purchased my A4 showing 126,000 miles, but the condition of the vehicle would indicate far less. VAG told me the instrument cluster had been replaced (and I'm certain it was not by a dealership) Any Ideas?
The car could just have been taken care of!!! I Bought a car once With 80kmiles on the odometer and the def. looked like it had 80k or maybe even less! I was later informed by the dealer before i bought that the car was tmu ( True miles unknown). I bought it anyway and one day decided to carfax it. To my surprise the car had 260k!! I was in unbelief because it did not look like it and certainly did not expect that!! But it really didnt bother me because the car look amazing and ran with no problems! I later sold it to my friend and he not has 300k+ on the car. Everytime I am out with him i would ask one of my other friends how many miles do they think is on the car and they alway tell me maybe 100! i always get a laugh outa it when i tell them it has 300k lol!
nope. carfax can only tell you if there is a discrepancy in the mileage, for instance if it showed 76k miles 4 years ago and your odo reads 77k miles now, it either sat for a really long time or there was something done to change it. same is if you have 99k on the clock and carfax says the car had 110k miles 6 months ago, theres probably something up and you can have a pretty accurate guess at the miles, but theres no way to tell exactly how many miles are actually on it.
