I'm planning on changing my spark plugs, doing an oil change, and whatever else you guys may recommend in this thread... I've searched google and here on the forum and I'm getting mixed results with what types of oil to use, and haven't found much on spark plugs besides Bosch Platinum +4's ~

What type of oil is good for general use in the 2.8L 30V (140k miles) [0-40 mobil 1?]

I couldn't find anything about oil filters... hmm

Bosch Platinum +4's good plugs? Gap them to .032 correct?

What else is good general maintenance for these cars, not trying to spend an arm and a leg.

i use mobil 1 0-40w in my 2.8 bosch filter never had a problem
i used NGK Iridiums

 

My 2.8 has had conventional 5W30 its whole life. Turned 218k miles this morning. I run NGK BKR7EUP platinum plugs with good results. Gap them at .032". Change your air, cabin, and fuel filter, balance your tire pressures, and top off coolant (G12) and power steering fluid (Pentosin CHF11S) as needed, and you're good.

 

air filter, cabin air filter, and fuel filter ~ ok to buy at places like autozone or should i only get oem parts?

 

The first two can be had at autozone, but the fuel filter probably not. They're not expensive though, even from the dealer. I picked up a Bosch replacement here:

But keep in mind that most of those don't ship with the copper sealing washers for the banjo bolts which you definitely need to replace. They're like $0.10 at the dealer though. They're different for the inlet and outlet, so make sure to keep them organized. Also, make sure you get the one with the banjo bolts. The one with the push fittings on the end is for the FWD. It could probably be made to work but just save yourself the hassle.
