Most would recommend the k04 bolt on upgrade. You can use the k04 on everything stock and see gains but if you really want to get something out of it you need proper tuning, intercooler, exhaust, fueling and other minors to get the full benefit.

I dont know much on the intercooler branding and which is good and which isnt but any good solid core and piping will do fine in my opinion. In terms of the exhaust do not cheap out on it, get a full exhaust from the turbo all the way through to ensure good sound.

Stage 1 tunes for the k03 usually all run 15-17 psi, the motor from what I have read is good for round 350hp at the crank before the rods start bending, the pistons are good for a lot more. Holding psi will be up to the turbo you put in it, a k04 tune will prob run low 20's psi safely and obviously drop psi as the revs increase past 5K as it isn't a big turbo at all.
