Turbo Blanket Lovin'
So I just installed the DEI turbo blanket and the heat wrap for my downpipe and it's awesome! Since my Big turbo upgrade with the ATP manifold puts the intake so close to all that heat i was impressed by how much cooler the engine bay was! After doing some donuts (I live in colorado) I could put my hand on the blanket right after. Also, I may be crazy but i noticed a more responsive rev and a throatier sound. I am curious what this upgrade would show on a dyno, a before and after. Also, I had some left over so I sold it to my buddy for him to do the same thing. Just thought i'd share and recommend this upgrade for anyone on this forum.
donuts dont put that much stress on a turbo as you arent just holding your foot on the floor the whole time. go on the highway and hold your foot down for a minute or two, that will get your turbo glowing red.
the blanket and wrap keep the heat in the exhaust stream and out of the engine bay. if your exhaust stream stays hot then it keeps its velocity, which is the reasoning behind it, though i doubt you would dyno any real difference. its just one more little thing you can do to maximize performance, but its not a real power adding mod. the throatier sound would be from the blanket and wrap muffling some of the higher pitched noise in the pipes.
