impossible...?
haha. w/ the lock carrier in service position i'll guarantee you it will fall out the bottom
not practical... yes. you will have to access it from the bottom as well as the top. but it will end up coming out the top.
why do you keep attacking him?

if you are putting your car in the service position to take out the turbo you dont know much more then he does. i can take the turbo out thru the trunk if you give me a plasma torch. seeing as he didnt want to remove the airbox which takes 5 minuits, im guessing he wouldnt want to remove the whole front of the car which takes an hour or two. you try getting the turbo out from the bottom with the stock airbox and nose still on the car and i will congratulate you for proving me wrong.
im not attacking him, im giving him advice that in my opinion this sounds like something that should be left up to a mechanic. but if you want to change your turbo yourself, go nuts. i just dont want to read another "i changed my turbo myself now my car wont run" thread.
you want to know how to replace your turbo? go to autozone and pay 10 bucks for an audi maintainence book and register on vagcat.com . all the info you ever need to know about the procedure including torque specs are in those two things.
i have taken my airbox off, 2X now, once b-4 i knew my line was gunked up, and then when i went to take it off again as well but found out that the other end was under the manifold and had to wait to get a new gasket. so i know how to , and by the way, i have 2 years of Auto Tech IRESA training in Automotive. just i've never done a turbo before and i come on here so i can get all the info i possibly can. you can never know too much, and talking to actual people and getting their reviews are better then the little warning sentences that the book will give. i have a Chilltons manual. but the discription is not all that good for me. the people on here, (the ones who were being pesimistic) have helped me alot.and as far as reading another "i replaced my turbo and now my car won't run" it's as easy and not clicking on the link and giving your imput. which in my case would have been better in the first place.
