Turbo Rebuild...
My recirc tube needed to be replaced so I took it off. Since I am using a BOV, I just ran it like that for a day or two...ran fine BTW. I noticed that when I shifted I had smoke coming out from under my hood. I checked and my BOV is COVERED in oil and so it under my hood. My car has been running differently for the past couple days. When I would floor it, it would boost the right amount but for about 2 seconds it would seem a little bogged down and then just come to life. I ordered a rebuild kit and it should be here very soon. Anyone got any advice on rebuilding a turbo, like things I should be concerned with? Its just a K03s. The car has 103k so I figure its time for a rebuild anyway.

K03's are not exactly built to be taken appart for a rebuild, though shops do it. I think the compressor casing is sort of riveted together so you're going to have to drill the MFer appart. I would def use a drill press for this - not a handheld. I also don't think the rebuild kit(s) include the journal bearing- so I'd be damn sure there is no play in the compressor shaft. If you are leaking a ton of oil, chances are there is significant play, though. Good luck with this!

So you are saying that a rebuild isnt possible in my garage? I bought this kit http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWNX%3AIT

I'm not saying it's not possible. But read THIS
I'd love to hear about somebody succesfuly rebuilding their k03. Not that there are unsuccessful stories, but there is just nobody who does it. I think maintaining parts in ballance is going to be the bitch of it more than anything else. If you get too nervous, send your turbo and rebuild kit to gpopshop.com . They have a good reputation w/low cost.

Uh yeah, you are missing quite a lot... Follow THIS
You are going to want to bolt the turbo/cat bolts back together so you can have leverage while disconnecting everything else. The turbo is sitting on a mount held with an allen bolt that is a b!tch to get off. The turbo/cat bolts should be among the last steps.
Have fun!

Ok, so after doing some more research, I think it would be better for me just to get a k04 replacement. Gpop won't even rebuild k series and I'm sure its for a good reason. In any case, with getting a k04, am I going to need a new intake tube and piping to the intercooler or will the stuff I have now work? I also hear that you will need a reflash. Can I just use my stock ecu flash for now just to get it running?
