K03 turbo rebuild
Has anyone had the turbos ported and new fins installed on them to make them flow more? Like closer to the K04's. The only reason is because my friend just got a set real cheap so when he changes them I'm getting his old K03's. But we were woundering if anyone has done this. It could potentially be alot cheaper then k04s.
Thanks,
Jason

You mean the cold side right?.............................I'm not rebuilding it. (I got skills Just not that many) There is a shop about 10-15 mins away from me that has been in business for 20yrs that would be doing the work. They just do turbos. So just to be clear, your saying that it isn't bigger it just has a different blade design on the cold side? And they charge what they do for them? WoW Let me know if I misunderstood any of this. Please that is why i'm writing this.
Hey,
I saw your post here about upgrading a K03 turbo by adding fins to the compressor wheel or turbine. I think the compressor and turbine are made of cast metal so welding is not possible.
Talk to Scroll Products they specialize in turbo rebuilding and turbo upgrades for the Borg Warner KKK K03 K04 Series turbochargers. Last I heard they have a new workshop in Bergen County somewhere off Rt.17S in Ramsey, NJ.
They did an upgrade on a set of K03-016 / 017 turbos for a friend, basically they re-profiled the compressor housing and put a larger K04 compressor wheel.
Here is the contact info ask for Sean.
