Default Turn signal not working

I drive a Audi A4 -97.
On my way home yesterday, the turn signal suddenly stopped working. A friend of my had played with the hazard lights button a couple of time, after that neither the turn signal nor the hazard lights works. I hear a clicking sound when I use the turn lights lever, but nothing else happens.

I've tried to change the fuses which handles the turn lights and hazard lights, but no success. What should be the next thing to do? I've read about the turn signal relay in http://forums.audiworld.com/showthre...n+signal+blink

is that likely to be the problem? Is the relay positioned at the same place on an A4 -97?

Try switching the two relays that are in the hazzard switch assembly.

Does the signal just stay on constantly without blinking?

I would probably say it's the relay as this is a common problem for our cars.

No, it doesn't blink at all. Anyway, I'm having a real hard time removing the front panel surrounding the hazard switch. I manage to loose it at the up and lower parts, but I fail to remove it completely. Any tip on how to remove it? (Part 2 in http://forums.audiworld.com/showthre...n+signal+blink )

what i did was take like a paper clip and bend it, then slip it behind the hazard light relay. when you pull it will come right out. at first you wont think it will be able to come out but just keep on pulling gently. the switches cost like 20 bucks at the dealer. it happened to me a couple of months ago.

That's a great tip on how to remove the hazard light relay, but I can't manage to remove the interior panel surrounding it :/

I already know I have a very limited knowledge about working with cars, so you don't need to point that out. It's just frustrating when I know what's wrong, but I can't get to the part that fails, since I can't remove the interior panel.

well just to let you know if you do break the little trim piece around the hazzard button the clips on mine are broken and it stays on there just fine.
