Default Unbelievable...

So i've been doing pretty well stayin out of trouble lately. Tonight I'm at a christmas party at 2am, decide to come home, and what breaks, the combi switch. I'm driving home at 2am and my headlights turn off. Pull over, check fuses, check bulbs. The only way i can get any light to come out of the front of my car is to hold down the highbeam lever on the combi switch. Not flick them on and leave them on, hold them down. For 20 miles. On the beltway in DC. I'm lucky i didn't get pulled over, cops usually get mad about that stuff. Talk about the worst possible time for that to break!

I just got done ordering a new one, should be here in a couple days.

Same thing happened to me. I'm waiting to get my T55 Torx in the mail tomorrow to fix it. Mine went out in a snow storm the other night and I must of had 50 people flash their lights at me to turn them on, I passed by a cop and he just flashed his lights at me also. Chicago cops pretty much leave you alone for traffic stuff.

It was not a fun ride on Lake Shore Drive. I'm going to try to fix it for free for now by greasing it up and freeing the contacts. Hope it works. How much did you spend for the switch? After Christmas I'll probably spring for a new one to be safe.

Happened to me as well after a 14 hour drive with 10 minutes to go to my destination. There is no temporary fix, just replace the switch.

I'm tryin to rule out everything else that could be causing it, i'm checkin the fuses, relays, etc. The cheapest switch i found was $130, can't remember the website right now i was on my other computer at the time. I'll keep everyone up on how it goes, maybe post some pics if i end up ripping the switch out =/

This is how to fix the switch http://www.audiworld.com/tech/elec.html. I bet it's a temporary fix and will go out again. I'm inclined to fix it temporary for now and get a new switch later.

Let me know what website you got that from CCA4, that's a lot less than I was going to pay. I was looking at combi switch for 155.00.
