Upgrade to K0422 turbo
I ran my K03 at 26psi, not an issue if the tune is right. I run 37psi now but that is on a GT35r.
==> That's reassuring
The 180 TT not the 225, the 225 TT uses 380cc injectors while the 180TT used 317cc.
==> 380cc too big? 317cc better?
None of the A4 1.8t's came with a 3 bar, all of them come with a stock 4 bar which is what your car already has. The transverse cars came with the 3 bar.
==> So: I should leave the stock pressure regulator (4 bar) in?
As for TAP(Total Audi Peformance), looks like their site hasn't been updated since 2008 when they went on vacation. http://www.tap1.com/catalog/

I will find out regarding TAP. I just sent an email what they suggest for my setup.
With any luck, my TAP my actually BETTER than what the test refers to, yeah!
The PC16 sound right (2 bar = 29 psi sounds too scary for my taste)
Just got off the phone with INMotion, VERY helpful (slightly larger injectors from the TT, fuel pressure regulator from 3 to 4 bar (from TT or >2000 A4), DV (from TT ("710N" or so or aftermarket, not sure what) is a must.
Custom tune $500 lifetime retune ($25 for ECU shipping), needs my VAG info; should get me to 270 HP (which I don't believe).

Here are the data for my custom turbo:
COMPRESSOR WHEEL
Inducer: 41.0 mm
Exducer: 54.0 mm
Tip height: 5.6 mm
Blades: 6 double,staged, extended tip
TURBINE WHEEL
Inducer: 44.5 mm
Exducer: 40.44 mm
Blades: 12
10 degree clip
Compressor housing shape-matched to larger compressor wheel and blade shape.
Compressor outlet flow optimized.
Turbine inlet flow optimized.
Calibrated waste gate actuator.

In and running since a while. Great midrange and not jumpy under 2500 rpm, but no high RPM screamer either (see boost curve).
Keep in mind: when my K03 died, I was NOT prepared to go 'big turbo' (intercooler, clutch, injectors, tuning, fuelpump, etc.). Not long after the turbo went in, the 140k timing belt was due. Now with the front all off, I decided to spring for the $300 for an ebay FMIC, and installed it.
With this setup, the TAP chip ("12.5 psi", "Stage 2") is now boosting 18 psi at 4000 rpm (but still 15 psi at 5000, 11 psi at 6000 and 8.5 psi at 7000; stock peak is 7 psi!). No codes, not lean, etc. No idea what the tune in chip does (TAP does not seem to exist anymore).
Now, with SB Stage 3 clutch in, entire front suspension parts new, FMIC and some experience (and with Nick at Turbo Concepts a super experienced 'turbo man'), we are ready for the next step. We plan to put in a T3 manifold and a custom built (to our characteristic) turbo; now starting to source injectors (440cc?) and not sure about tune (would like to go with a 'standard' tune and someone to chip my 2nd, unchipped ECU with it).
With more experience under the belt, I can see a future 'piggy back' engine management on this car to do all the tuning in house (and with that experience, I would then dare to continue other turbo projects, particularly a turbo for the Chrysler 4.0 V6, which stalled since NO ONE touches the ECU).
Total cost for the custom turbo including all material and consumables way under $1,000 (I think the turbo was $800 using housing, etc. from my K03, but all new wear parts, actuator, waste gate flap, cartridge, etc.)
