URGENT HELP!! Cam Chain Tensioner tool broke
OK not sure if I'm over reacting, but during my valve cover gasket replacement the chain tensioner tool snapped causing the tension to come back on the chain.
Do I just get a new tool and re-tension the cam chain, How much do you tighten these down I only had about 1/16 slack in the chain. Are there any adverse affects here other than not being able to remove/move the cam chain and cams? It will not budge right now so it's still in the head.

There are two parts to the tensioner, the upper and lower half. The tool you are using threads into the lower half and pulls it toward the upper half. While it may seem that there isn't much slack in the top, there is usually much more slack on the bottom. It also helps if the engine is at TDC when compressing the tensioner as the cams are in more of a neutral position.
When you tighten the bolt, you should not be applying much torque. Imagine swinging the wrench with your fingers rather than putting your wrist/arm into it. You should also go slowly as the tensioner is full of oil and your by compressing it, you're pushing that oil out.
