I have been getting CEL light, and mechanic mentioned vaccuum tubes. He already replaced one, which looked like some of your old ones, but the light came back and he's going to check for more..what are these and what do they do? I have been driving a bit despite the light on...thanks

You car stores vacuum created by the intake and uses it for other ****, like the brake booster. If one of those lines was junk, logic would suggest that they all are. replacement line can be had on the cheap at any auto parts store

Thanks. Are they crucial to replace if the CEL come on? and how much time should it take a mechanic to replace...just thinking rates and all. First time in the shop i dropped $250..

I definitely wouldn't take it to a mechanic to have the vac lines replaced. You can get 10ft. of rubber hose from AutoZone for like $2 and do it yourself in an hour. If its causing a CEL, you definitely wanna replace them.

look in the beginning of this thread there are pictures of all the lines replaced. the car does not have to be lifted, all you have to do is remove the plastic cover with 4 screws.

3.5mm ID. Best price I've found is Flex Technologies - Your Silicone Hose Solution - get 15-20 ft and you'll have extra left over for another time.
