a useless part. can be removed. it is called "Crankcase breather pressure regulating valve". I removed this on my car, removed the pipe that it connects to and put a filter on the rubber peice that is left on the back of the valve cover.

changed my pcv stuff and a little confused on a few vacum lines. I found this diagram but doesnt look like mine was hooked up this way from the beginning, the diagram looks like an older version of the B5, I have a 2000 audi a4 ATW engine. Any one help me with the vac lines highlighted in red? Thanks fellas.

A quick search on google of "2001 a4 b5 1.8t vacuum diagram" came back with:
*DIY* - B5 1.8T Vacuum/Check Valve/SAI/PCV - Delete & Simplification
For future reference, it is better to list the basic info about your car (year, engine, quattro or not) in your signature.
