So, back when I was a dealer tech, we had the 1551/2 and then the super 5052... Only recently did I hear of the VAG-COM and Lemiwinks and all this aftermarket stuff... Can someone give me a good understanding of the best route (read: cheap and reliable) to pick up this technology on my laptop (which does not have a serial port)?

The software seems expensive, but the support is incredible... help me make sense of this thing!

 

You only get the support with their stuff. The cheapest way to actually get the full sw and ross-tech support is to buy a referb cable and sw. You can also buy a ebay cable and then spend another $100 for an older and uncomplete sw. If you want the real thing, you are going to have to spend over $200.
