My friend has an automatic 99 B5 A4 and every once and a while it will hold a gear until 4k rpm when he is not giving it more than normal throttle, it seems to go away when it warms up.

What could this be?

His Transmission fluid is probably due for a flush and refill. Have him get his tranny fluid changed and he should be fine.

hey four ring ask ur friend to disconnect the maf, i did it and it seemed to help. but obviously its not a perm fix
