When you replace the P/S fluid, make sure you jack the front of the car up and turn the wheel all the way to the left and all the way to the right until all of the bubbles are gone from the reservoir. My sister's A4 was making this horrible noise and it was misdiagnosed as a bad P/S pump more than once. Once we used this method to get all of the air out of the lines, the noise dissapeared completely.

thanks AUF, how many bottles of fluid did you use? Im gonna have to dig up the DIY on how to do it exactly, i think you just have to disconnect the hoses from the bottom of th resevoiur to get it all out then do the turns all the way to the cranks, then fill it up, doing it again, drain it out with all the bad stuff then fill it up one last time? But my main question is how much fluid do i need to buy to get the job done right.

I dont know how much fluid you will need, we never fully drained my sisters 2002 A4 3.0L. One of the 12v guys will prob chime in, or a little bit of searching should reveal the answer.
