I am the owner of a 99 2.8 Avant quattro with the tiptronic. The tiptronic is a very cool feature but I hardly ever use it. Its just not the same as shifting. Something about feeling the gears move around. But I will Say I love this car exactly the way it is. The 2.8 has a ton of power and that would be AMAZING for a manual but every time I'm in traffic I'm happy to have an AT. Its all about what u want. What u need. I am not a fan of the turbo. Just another part to go bad.
If or in the market for your first audi I have some tips 4 u. Take it to a shop for your test drive. For $100 they will do an inspection. The main things are weather or not maintenance has been done. Timing belt is a big one because that's $1500 (if done correctly). Also the transmission fluid. $260. These cars are amazing machines. Make sure the one u buy has been treated as such.
