VICTORY! I got the snub mount bracket bolt in! I started it up and damn, I can hardly tell the engine is running!

Sounds like I finally lost one or both of my rear door speakers. Not bad for some 12 year old paper cone speakers. I think as long as I'm in there I'll replace the door speakers and the sub in the back

Finally picked up the axle for my GF's TT from work...

I'm glad ECS didn't ship me anything fragile, both ends of the box were ripped off and the splines on the inner CV joint were sticking out...

savantv - I award you 10,000 internets for your efforts. Spend them wisely!
It's a good thing I'm OCD about reading this read or I would've missed my 10,000 internets! Thanks for the props and if people have *must have* diy videos they want on the front page just DM me. I'd love to put them up there.

Thanks and enjoy!

Found a black 2001 1.8TQM locally on Craigslist with messed up timing belt for $2300... yes, California cars are ridiculous. But that's the cheapest I'd probably find one less than 15mins away. Hopefully going to check it out at lunch!

EDIT:
Just checked it out. Guy has the front of the car sort of in service position because his "mechanic" was supposed to remove the head to fix the bent valves. They never got close to removing the head, they just sort of unhooked everything. Body is in pretty good shape overall, normal scratches. The interior, however is SUPERB. It's a black on black pleather, and no rip in the driver's seat. The cluster has the normal messed up pixels, but this cluster is not original to the car... CARFAX shows the car should have about 90,000 miles more than the cluster indicates. Not a huge deal, but that means the car has higher mileage and the DMV will no longer list information based on mileage.

It pretty much has zero rust, which is good considering it spent its first few years as a Michigan car (then it moved to California). It has no radio, one of the headlights has broken tabs. Of course it has the typical ABS module failure.

I offered the guy $1900 since I don't know how it drives (wheel bearings, control arms, cruise control, driveshafts, etc.), and the other things I mentioned. Would make a nice project car though!

EDIT: (next day) there's some shady stuff going on with the title, so this won't be my next car.

Attempted to remove the lower bolts that connect the transaxel and engine block, it's a tight squeeze. I have a blown 1.8t and a replacement bought from a "reputable" salvage yard.

Just prepared my car for a trip to romania's 40 degrees weather. Everything leveled up and oil changed with Castrol 15W40 (part syntetic). Plus 1000W in the trunk, to stay awake on the road

Took this a coupla days ago, but forgot to post it. This is a video from my phone of a (my) bad SAI pump. You can hear it whistle at :10 when I turn the car on, then there's about a minute of unintelligible racket, then it whistles again when it shuts off at 1:12. Just thought it might be helpful.
