so finally...only a week and a half after it happened i finally took the head off my car. for anyone that dosent know i broke a tensioner on the timing, which cause the head to get completely messed up.

it gets worse. i took the head off w/ the help of a certified VW tech, he managed to get it off in about an hour which i was pretty impressed by. but then, i saw the worst thing i could have seen. there was an intake valve head in the cylinder....imbeaded in it. luckly there was no damage to the cylinder wall, but there was damage to the head. i took it to someone to see if it could be machined and fixed this afternoon. the first place said no, and the second place said no problem. the first place was actually a VW/Audi tuner, and the second guy just worked on all engines.

sorry its such a long post, but heres where im at and i need some help. i can either change the piston, and still have the head rebuilt, which is cheaper, but also iffy, cause one shop said no and the other had a different answer. the other option is to try and find a complete engine...that i can afford, and swap it in. this would probably be the fastest way to fix it, but it would probably have to be a motor w/ 100K+, which also sucks cause i only have 75K. the good news is the tech thats helpin me out said probably $750 either way, which isnt bad at all considering the work im doing.

what should i do????

oh... i thought i had already responded to this thread. well if your engine is still running strong then why bother messing with another engine you have no idea how it runs. I'd just replace the damaged parts. Might be cheaper and more reliable.
