that wouldn't even cost 3k all what i listed but heres a list

hot tank & hone - 100
new rings - 100
coated main - 150
coated rod -150
main studs - 150
head studs - 150
rods - 800
pistons - 800

right under 3k with everything. would be a solid bottom end easily handle over 600hp and spool a good sized turbo.
Sounds good. I Will be buying the parts slowly to get it all set up. By any chance can you tell me a great site to get all test parts for the price you said

Alright will do guys, I'm looking to spend close to 2 grand on the parts since I'm gonna be going to college at wyotech in 2 months. Since I'm only 18. I'll try ecs tuning and 034moyorsport. Devil how much do you think mIke hood price would be?

i think i built my motor for about 2500. you gotta remember there is a lot more parts than listed aboive. a lot of little **** that adds up like front and rear main seals, cam seals, new tensioner pads cause yours are probably shot, new clutch hardware,ect.... here is a more complete list.
From Integrated engineering-
oil filter housing gasket- 6.99
oil pump chain tensioner- 9.99
main bearing set- 54.99
thrust washers- 22.99
rod bearings- 32.99
From ECS tuning-
Front Crank seal- 12.99
Throttle Body gasket- 2.49
Head Gasket-35.95
intake manifold gasket- 3.98
valve cover gasket- 14.95
rear crank seal- 30.98
dipstick funnel-2.76
dipstick- 9.19
magnetic oil drain plug- 9.95
Labor- 75 to check head
Clean Motor-65
Bore- 80
I got a real good deal on mahle powerpak pistons at $380 cause they were an odd size at 81.25mm bore. id recommend mahle's but they usually cost about $600. for rods just get some integrated engineering rods for $400. but you can always reuse your stock pistons if they are in good shape. stock pistons are in fact quite stout. however, because you are 01 you wold need IE rods to reuse your 19mm wrist pins. i am not aware of any other aftermarket rods with 19mm wristpins. the above should be a pretty complete list of parts you need, besides an oil pick up, which you need to do, and an oil pump which is recommended.

most guys use je pistons. $560 isnt a bad deal, but if you got time, shop around. i bought an entirely seperate motor to build when i did mine so i could keep my car on the road and build the motor over winter. but if your car isnt working right now than you got some time. if you are interested here is my motor build https://www.audiforums.com/forum/b5-...-build-174351/

yeah going bt is not cheap. i got a really really good deal on some used parts, so thats how i afforded to do it. just keep an eye open on vwvortex for used parts, or audizine too. its the cheapest way to go.

Yeah Iknow BT isn't cheap. That's why I'm waiting down the road. The college I'm going to gets parts cheaper cuz of sponsors so might buy from them when I go out there. But the engine will be rebuilt before going to wyotech.
