not 100% but it looks like a vacuum line. Doesnt that one line go through the firewall and connect to the brake booster?
That looks like the gray stuff on there is JB weld, like someone has tried to fix it before. It looks like maybe its a check valve?

^ What he said, I can't understand people that ghetto rig their cars...you might have not JB weld it in the first place, but now that it broke, you shouldn't be thinking about taping it. Just go to the dealer and buy a new piece.

its called a suction pump. ECS has them cheap.

dont ignore it, if it needs to be replaced replace it dont try to use the same one. if it gets clogged u can backup the crank case and cause oil probs

just wanted to update.. yes its a vacuum line to the brake booster and yes it will make you crash.. i was driving and my brakes stopped working.. i had about 5% brake power, the pedal just wouldnt move, it was like a rock was under it. once i got home i popped the hood and the part was split in half and wasnt connected at all.. once i reconnected it, the brakes worked fine. lol oops. not gonna be putting that off anymore..
