What part is this?

What part is this?
It's broken in the two places circled in green. I can hear hissing from inside the car. It's all dried and brittle.
Check engine light just recently came on, could this be the cause?
So main question is, what part is it and is it cheap enough to just go to the dealership for (part, not labor).
Thanks!

For future reference, it is very helpful to list your engine/year (i.e. 2001 1.8T), or your engine code if you know it (like AWM or ATW).
In any case, that part is a check valve. Looks like one of these guys:
Audi B5 A4 Quattro 1.8T > Engine > Intake > Valves > ES#3022 Check Valve - Priced Each - 058905291K
You would be charged a similar amount for that at the dealer. Other OEM suppliers charge a lot less in some cases:
Audi B5 A4 FWD 1.8T > Engine > Intake > Valves > ES#259630 Check Valve - Priced Each - 058905291K

Thanks for the response MetalMan. Will definitely include code (ATW) in the future. 2000 quattro 1.8T 5sp
On the links you provided, the picture only shows two orifices on the valve but mine has three. Is the third just not shown (protruding from the other side not caught in image)?
I've read there is a check valve near the airbox as well that seems to be two orifice.
This part is behind the engine, about level with the top surface of the engine, and somewhat in the middle left to right but closer to the driver side.
Also, with those two links, it doesn't matter if it's quattro or FWD does it? I can get either one or are they using the identical picture for slightly different parts?
Thanks for the help!

I have a 2001 and that area is a little different but very similar. This is what I bought when mine broke. Do note that the tubing going from that little thingy that broke(lol don't know what to call it) has different interior diameters. I just zip tied up the hose on that end since it was too big.
Here's the part I bought:

Thanks for identifying it guys! Just going to go to the dealership for the part ($$). The extra $15 it might be is worth it in time for me.
Question now is:
Lunch or dealership first.
Considering I haven't had breakfast, I'm getting the duct tape.

2. When in doubt check the part number (I always do). I don't think Quattro/FWD will make a difference on the check valve. Someone else may chime in there.
Good luck bud!

1. Read the sticky thread titled "All new members do this" or whatever it says. In there it tells you to add your vehicle's specifics to your signature line: to keep you from having to type it over and over. Read the stickies! They are an immense help.

And thanks, will let you guys know how it goes.

Just thought I'd chime in here. With little stuff like this the dealership is often not a bad choice. Any decent dealership should have stuff like this in stock, and the markup on this kinda stuff won't be all that high. Small engine parts like check valves, washers, o-rings, temperature sensors; I've found that all of these are often pretty reasonably priced even at the stealership. Plus, you don't have to wait for shipping.
