Default What should I get for a daily driver ...

Hey guys, I got my 2001 B5 last year and have been loving every minute of driving it but I feel like I'm working the car too much and that I should get a 2nd car to have as a daily driver to sort of beat up on to get back and forth to work.

Do you have any suggestions as to what I should look for in a relatively cheap yet it's some fun to drive around? I'm just looking for a car that will help extend the life of my Audi and be should I dare say it, practical.

Thanks for any thoughts.

96 12v A4 - you can get them for a song now. Yeah it's two Audis to maintain but it's worth it.

Late 80s Mercedes. The W126 series was practically carved from stone. They look good, they're comfortable and they last forever. If you can survive w/o digital displays, ABS and airbags, that's the way I'd roll.

Hey, thanks for the cool ideas. Definitely gives me something to think about. I'll consider all of them. The concept of owning a 2nd Audi really caught me off guard.

Default Run your Audi!

I say you already have your daily driver, as a proud owner of a B5 A4 I run the snot out of that little sucker every day, I would far rather wear out my A4 while loving every minute of it than drive some bean shaped, road going appliance to "preserve" my 12 year old Audi. I say drive what you love and if it breaks, fix it or wears out replace it with more of the same!

...and once it does wear out I just hope the B6 S4's have reached the realm of affordability.

im lookin at a 94 bmw 318is, they can be uber cheap. they're every where in my neck of the woods. and last forever if someone didn't try to turn it into a ricer...lol

and for their, age 90% of the time they still look really nice.

Well I'm off to go and look at... another B5 a 2001 the same year as mine oddly enough but this one differs from mine in that it is an automatic. Still has the 1.8T though which I really like.

They're asking $5,500 so I' bringing $4,000 in cash to see if they'll bite. The car looks to be in really good shape.

2 funny. I really never considered getting a 2nd B5 as a daily driver. This could be entertaining.
