Default What is this tube for?

So I am looking for a spot to run a 12v cable in my car, and I came across this tube underneath the battery... Any idea what its for?

also, any tips on running this cable? The only walkthrough I found says there should be a rubber grommet near the battery but I don't see anything..

Thanks!

That tube connects to your battery on the overflow/ vent hole. Usually on the front, could be on the sides, of the upper part of the battery. I believe it allows overflow if it was to heat up and overfill, and also allow venting. The tube directs it all away from your paint and vital components. As for running the battery cable, you can either get custom and drill a small hole through the firewall and put in a rubber grommet then feed the wire through. Or you can go through one of the numerous already installed rubber grommets for your brake booster, accelerator cable, or the not so ideal ecu path....

Sounds good, it was not connected to the battery when I took it out, but I will go and try to find where it might connect... I ended up using the 12v+ wire already in the trunk for the Bose amplifier, and it seems to work (no fuses popped yet after running at max for awhile).

Thanks for the help!

In my experience, only the OEM batteries will have a provision for this vent. Two B5's and 4 batteries and I've never seen one
