Default Wheel ID/Compatibility - Need Help!

Hey guys, new to the forum. Did a search but couldn't find an answer to my specific question. I'm looking for a set of snow tires for my daughter's '01 A4 Quattro. Found a set on CL for a good price. The owner claims he just bought them for his Beetle and they don't fit. His dealer told him they are from an '06 Jetta. If they really are from a Jetta, will they fit the A4? The bolt pattern is correct (5x112).

The other issue is that I can't find any Jetta wheels that look like these. Do these look familiar to anyone? Thanks!

Regardless of the vehicle they came from, the bolt pattern and offset are what will determine if they fit your daughter's car.

If the offset is wrong, body/suspension/brake interference and bearing wear may be the result.

why does one need snow tires on a quattro? slow down, and stay at home until the snow plow comes.

Because it's my 16-year-old daughter and I want her to have every advantage she can for safe winter driving. Roads might be clear when she leaves for school or work and weather can move in before she comes home. Even a light dusting makes things slippery.

The guy sold the set in question, but I found some nearly new Blizzaks we are mounting on the stock wheels tomorrow.

Do your thing so that you are comfortable, but it just isn't an issue, and is a trade off and quite money consuming. by the way, no tire can stop on ice. Maybe she shouldn't drive in rain, either. 'Conditions Permitting' is a sign sometimes seen on highways, which implies judgement is needed.

from Wiki:

Snow tires have more sipes than summer tires, increasing traction on snow and ice, but reducing grip on dry and wet roads.

In Germany tires with a Mud and Snow (M+S) marking must be used during winter conditions. M+S tires can be snow tires but all-season tires may also qualify.

Hartsoe, having driven through 22 Maine winters on all seasons and snow tires, I'll take snow tires any day of the week. I really don't care what Wikipedia says.
