Default Where to buy an Engine?

If you had to buy an engine for your B5, where would you order one from? I have a list of places, but I cannot trust any of them.

1996 Audi A4 2.8L. Early vin 055573.

I'd go local myself and find a place around home that had an engine. If you can, upgrade to the 30v and ditch the 12v.

I'd check Ebay, personally... for a 4.2L V8.

What do I have to change to convert to 30v. The car is 1996. Can this be done?

I asked about converting to an S4 engine. I heard it would be a more expensive alternative. One would have to change transmission, cv axles, computer. Not to mention an S4 engine is much more in price.

I guess there is no one selling rebuild quality engines for an A4.

I am stuck with searching junkyards for junk.

there are two kinds of the 2.8 engine, older version the 12v and the newer one 30v. you should be able to get either one without any modifications.
