Where does the Restrictor Valve Go on my Car?
Has anyone changed the AC Restrictor Valve on a 1999 Audi A4 1.8T Avant. I was able to buy the part but I can not figure out the location. I tried looking everywhere on Google and yahoo.
Its inside the lines where the service ports are. I cant remember if its the low or high pressure side (but you should be able to check both because youll need to evacuate the system to replace it). Right where the service ports are remove the nut and separate the line shine a flash light towards the cabin side and youll see it, you can pull it out with a needle nose and push in the new one.
Well, here is the problem. I had changed the Evaporator Last Year and never saw one in either holes. High Pressure or Low Pressure. I still have the Evaporator in the basement. What is odd is that I can not blow Air through the High Pressure line to the Evap. I have it disconnected in from the Compressor, condensor. It is a straight path to Evap ( Larger Diamter Hose). There is some kind of restriction inside the Hose from one end of the Hose to the Other and I can not see what. I had replaced the Compressor last Summer and it did not even last 3 Months. Right in the middle of the Winter it took out a fuse that Controlled the Heat too. So I disconnected the Compressor so I can get My Heat back. My Theory is that whatever is in the HP Line, is either not supposed to be there or Blocked. This Caused the Compressor to over heat and Fail.
I am wondering if AUDI for Model 1999 A4 1.8T has incorporated the Orfice into the HP line somehow and I have to change the entire Hose. This why I want to know if anybody with the Same Model Year Car been through this.
Do you feel my pain?)
