Will a bad mass airflow sensor ALWAYS throw a CEL?

It is in the airbox and connected to the TIP. You will have to take the top part of the airbox off to access the MAF. Once you do that, unplugging it will be very obvious.

Thank you kind sir. I am picking up a new (remanned) MAF sensor on my way home. If it fixes the issue, I'll most likely order the Bosch one from German Auto Parts and drive my Dad's old truck in the meantime. Not too keen on using a "Cardone" brand remanned MAF sensor.

Id say just run it mafless, and throw an autozone cone filter on the end...

^ That's what I'm doing right now. I'm in the process of getting sparkplug non-foulers so I can gut my cats then do a 3.0 stroker and some good head work.

What's the benefit of running MAFless? I replaced mine tonight, and all is well.
