Default Window Issues

What's up guys,

The other day my rear passenger window made a big pop as I was rolling it down. I tried to roll it up and it moved up about 3/4 of the way and slid all the way back down. The motor seems to be fine since it's responsive. Could it be the regulator or simply the window fell off track (is that possible?). Anyone ever taken off their door panel have any pointer on what to expect?

Driving with a window 3/4 of the way down really ruins the driving experience. Especially here in Florida where it rains EVERY day.

Thanks fellas

same thing happened in my brothers mercedes. i was rolling down the rear window and he drove into a hole at the same time and bammm something snapped. idk what the part was called but it was attached to the window it self. the motor is still running but it just doesnt pull the window up. my brother didnt feel like fixing it so he did a red neck fix lol. he put a piece of wood under the window so it locked it in place all the way up. i though it was kinda funny ^^

its a window regulator. this happened to me last week.

i purchased a new one here (will have it tomorrow): this is the cheapest i found an OEM one from a decent source.

http://www.mjmautohaus.com/catalog/p...oducts_id=2347

note fitment:
For rear left (driver) side.

Regulator only. Does not include motor.

This product fits:

2000-2001 Audi S4
1996-2002 Audi A4

Here is a writeup on how to take the door apart.

http://www.audiworld.com/tech/int65.shtml

note that this is the front door, but its almost the same except the assembly on the window regulator is different. comes apart about the same though. good luck. let me know if you need help getting the door apart i can post pictures.

until you get the part, you can move the glass all the way up tight, and then move the metal slide that normally lifts the window by cable and ziptie it to the inner door frame. you will probably need to remove the broken spool of cable first, but its easy. leave your window motor unplugged too when you put the door back together while waiting on parts.

here is a shot:

Shane, You're the man. I took off the door off and took a look before I saw the replies of this post. It was absolutely the regulator. The cable got all tangled and off track. I'm gonna try the local junkyard like Tourbo24 suggested then MJM.
