Question window regulator DIY?

i searched and only found stuff on b6 and TT... anyways both front windows the lil green piece connected to the glass is broke.. i went to audi and they said that the lil piece can only be purchased as a whole regulator... so looks like i have to buy 2 new ones... but ill be damned if im also gonna pay another 2 hours per door of labor... so anyone got a DIY? i checked audidiy and couldnt find it... anything is helpful.. thanks

ooh and i noticed on vwvortex thread there is a write up for his jetta... but he was saying there is a repair kit where u only have to replace the clips and no the whole thing... is this true? or does audi not give us that option? cuz all mine is, is just the lil clip not the wires or pulley or anything

I did this not to long ago.....not too bad of a job, only took about an hour and a half to do. Like Hiwords posted, follow that DIY and you'll be fine.

I think a while back someone had the same issue as you, the green thingy being broken.. they found a kit on eBay, but you would have to dis-assemble and re-assemble everything. I told him it would probably be cheaper and quicker to replace the whole damn thing.

BTW I got mine from MJM Autohaus for $60 or something like that. They still had a $49 dollar regulator on there the last time I hit up their site, but it has been discontinued. If you order it, they'll tell you they'll send you a Meyle one for around $60.....don't quote me on the price, I just know it was the cheapest replacement I could find in a pinch.

is there a difference in the models? they have 3 different ones for jsut the front left all diff prices... and of course the 50 dollar one is out of stock and they dont even have an option for the passenger side regulator

and last question... some of them say "for windows withouth auto up down feature" wtf does that mean???

This is the cheapo regulator I ordered. It lists for $49.95, but after I ordered it, MJM called me the next day and said the supplier is no longer in business so no $49.95 regulator, they shipped me a Meyle unit for I believe around $60 0r $70 for a brand new unit shipped and I got it in like 2 days. MJM is a stand up company the dude was super cool on the phone and apologized for the mix-up. I still don't know why they have it listed though.

The unit has been in for over a month and a half with no issue.
