Cool Window Tint = Cooler interior?

Cooler, get it? lol

Anyhoo, I searched around for a thread on the topic but could only find "what % tint should i get?" threads, most of which already contained one or more smart-*** replies by yours truly.

My question is this: those of you with tint of various shades, have you noticed a difference in the interior temperature of your car when it sits in the sun? It's hotter than two squirrels in a wool sock here today and the interior of my car is almost unbearable. I have 50% on all 5 windows, and the main reason I got tint in the first place was to help with this very problem, but it doesn't seem to help--even with the sunroof popped up and the windows cracked. Any of you guys with tint darker than 50% notice a marked improvement? Would it be worth the time/money to have the 50% taken off and replaced with 35%? Am I just being a p*ssy about it?

Yeah I dunno, I think it has a lot more to do with the dark interior than the tint, but i was wondering if anyone else had any thoughts.

i have 35% all around and i can say,in direct sun light,it doesn't make a difference. I would suggest that you buy a windshield cover, that repels sun light, away from the car,so that it will be cooler, once your ready to drive.

Dark interiors will most definitely be hotter than a tan or light interior. One thing to consider may be that the tint prevents visible light from entering, but probably not the infrared heat.

Another good point. I guess I was thinking that by blocking UV light, the tint would also help keep the heat out, but now that you point that out I suppose it probably does absolutely nothing huh? lol
