I'd negotiate. I paid $7k for mine which was too high, but it was the exact car I wanted and it took me 8 months to find it, so I was willing to pay too much to make it mine

are you on crack? 500 For a tbelt kit? Try more like 150. Maybe I could see 500 with labor. But if your gonna use the tbelt as a jewing point than deduct 800 as that what a dealership would charge

To be fair, you could easily get a quote for twice that on a TB job. I got a quote from and indie Audi/VW shop around here for $1900 and a quote from the dealership for $2500. Obviously it depends on where you live and if you're willing to do your own work, but I think negotiating $500 off the asking price of a car because it needs a TB job is perfectly reasonable. I did my own TB over the holidays for $200 and a case of beer, but the seller doesn't need to know that

Wow.... what would I get for my car with 260k miles? The details are in my signature...

Oh, and that's with everything in perfect order except for a cup holder that won't stow away, the LCD screen missing dots and a tear on the driver side seat. ALL records since new since we are the original owners. All timing belts, water pumps, coils, suspension, clutch, brakes have been replaced, documented, and are all up to date. There are no dent's or dings whatsoever on the car. The front of the car has a lot of paintchips reflective of the mileage - all original paint. The wife drives 120 highway miles to work each day...

sadly maintence and care doesn't increase price. It does guarantee that your sale should be easier, in theory. What people see is its a car with 260k miles on it.
