.

I have just confirmed that even the Symphony fronts are 4", even though the Car Toys and Crutchfield websites say 5.25"

Yea the front speakers are 4 inch speakers that are riveted into the door frame. All you need is the appropriate size drill to get the old rivets out... a new speaker... new rivets and a little hand held rivet gun.

My speakers were screwed to the door card. No rivets.

To the OP, I bought some Infinity 4" speakers and cut up the original speakers to make adapters. Typical aftermarket speakers will have 4 mounting points 90 degrees apart. The front door speakers have a weird 3 point mounting. Make sure that when you mount them you use some weather stripping or tape to seal the speaker to the door card. Without it, it won't sound as good.

I'm 99% sure they never used rivets for the speakers. When I replaced mine (4" Kickers) there was 3 screws. It's a pretty easy job, i fabbed up a simple adapter which took the 4 screw design on aftermarket speakers to fit the weird 3 screw design

I just did mine today. 3 screws for the speakers. Rivets for the grilles.

OP: If you're still looking for a replacement speaker, I believe one of mine is still good. If you want it, you can have both for $10 plus whatever it costs to ship it.

I just scanned the page in my Hayes manual that states there are rivets but you may be right Pb.

Its a 13mb jpeg so it wont let me upload it.
