Ok, this is what happened to me, i bought an 1999 a4 Quattro 5spd, i was amazing, three days later it needs a new tranny!!! yeah... it really sucks... does anyone know if the transmission from an 1998 1.8t Quattro 5spd would work for my car? i have the 2.8 30v v6... nay help is greatly appreciated??? are the 1.8t and the 2.8 transmissions the same?

 

I think they are? Not sure though, Btw i can probably help you with your stero. But what you need to know is in the manual


Make sure you are hitting the RBDS or what ever it is and the Pscan then little lines will come up and you put your code in.

 

the 1.8T tranny will golt right up, they are interchangeable....the difference is the gearing, I think your Rpms in 4th and 5th will be a bit higher, nothing big, but you may end up loosing a couple mpg's on the highway

lol i feel ya man, my tranny blew out about 122xxx miles and i bought it at 112xxx, i actually put and bmw tranny in it from an old 323 i think, thats what my uncle told me, hes a mechanic and he fixed the car. i dont notice any difference in the gear ratios, nor the boast (even thought its stock =(.. ) all my gear rmps are still the same. might wanna ask these others guys that are better with audis specifically or do some research but my uncle told me its an old beamer tranny

 

Yeah the guy is refusing at all costs, he gave me a 50/50 powertrain warranty and i have it in writing so at thins point i am thinking of sueing him for the half if not the whole amount... here's the deal i bought the car 02/09/08 so that was fifteen days ago, in florida you have 3 days to get your money back, so there's no way to do that, and ok i have driven the car for 4 day exaggerating!! i had the car for 3 days until i started having problems, the dealership where i bought it from took the car back and supposedly fixed it i wrote him a check for $475 which was half of the expenses, and the car was not fixed, it looked like there was no oil in the tranny and it just blew!!! or just wont move because there's no oil in it so i was stranded in the middle of the road without being able to move the car, i had it in neutral and tried to push it and it was like trying to move an automatic car in parking!!! then aftetr burnign some clutch trying to make it go, i popped the clutch and it moved forward very very hard, the car shook like crazy and made horrible noises... i can't tell if i need a new tranny, any help? thanks for the responses guys!!

ohh and i have the vin of the radio not the code to put into the radio, that's what im trying to find out. thanks...

yeah, looks like you're screwed. I'd still try talking to a lawyer. Especially if you have some sort of warranty that they aren't owning up to and to whom you've already paid.

Good luck. By the way, to determine the problem, bring it to third party, trusted mechanic, explain your situation and just tell them you want their opinion in writing.

 

yeah, the thing is that i already called in a paystop for the check i write him so there's no way he's gonna be able to get the money, I think that will get his attention

 

sue his ***, seriously... thats really unethical of the seller to not own up to selling you a car with a tranny waiting to fail.
