'03 1.8TQ weird problem- RPM hunting, torque converter won't lock up?
Hi,
I searched the web and forum and could not find any info.
I just bought an '03 A4 1.8T Quattro with 5 speed auto trans for my daughter. Has about 70K miles on it. It's a great car!!!
When driving steadily on back roads in 4th and 5th gear, at about 2000 RPMs, the revs will fall by 100-200RPM, the car vibrates a bit, then the revs go back up and the vibrations go away. This happens every 10 seconds or so, in 4th or 5th gear. Once I get going over 50-55, it smooths out and stays at the RPM.
Is this normal? (I doubt it).
Does this sound like a Torque Converter problem or something else? The CHECK ENGINE light is not on and a friend checked for error codes (but not with a VAG COM).
Any help apprecaited as we have a 60 day powertrain guarantee.
thanks!
