Default '03 A4 1.8T Hidden Equalizer ??

Hey guys, seem some posts elsewhere. People stating that non-bose users can access some hidden Equalizer in the radio to make the sound better??

I've tried holding 5 (well there is no 5, just the 5th button) and turning on the radio and absolutely no luck, some of the other preset buttons show other strange things but nothing of what i've heard in other threads.

Has anyone had any luck doing this and there any way you could share how this is done?? Apparently stock its set to 5555555 or something, just heard other number combinations make a world of sound quality wonder.

Thanks in advance!

do it while its on. hold it down for a few seconds. There should be some thing like phone left right svc and other stuff. U just turn the svc i think thats what it is all the way up and get a little more power outta stock speaker.s

The hidden equalizer is just the loudness setting. Press and hold the menu button and turn the setting up...simple, small effect.

Well so i tried it a bit this morning, i saw SVC it was set at 3? (svc = Speed-sensitive Volume Control). The more important one was "Max volume at" setting, which was at 10, turned it up to 12 think its def a lil louder. After words then it showed a phoneleft-right and other settings I didnt want to change.

Guess thats all she's got in her though, going to try turning the max volume up more after work i suppose =P

Thanks for the help, any other radio secrets let me know!

the max volume is the max volume that the radio will turn on with. for example, if you are out blasting your music and the next morning you get in your car, the radio will turn on with a volume up to 12 (with how you've set it). Keep that one around 8 and save your speakers dude. SVC just adjusts how much compensation in the volume there is at higher speeds

Ahh okay i gotcha..

Yeah guess the speakers are just weak =/ Soon as you open the windows and drive anything over 40 you might as well turn the radio off you can't hear anyyyything, especially not bass.

Ah well guess it might be time to look into new speakers!

To access the hidden EQ, press down on the ashtray lid:

From there you've got 31 bands to work with.
