Post 03 A4 3.0l AVK engine throttle surge

I've got an 03 A4 AVK engine in the shop that intermittently has a throttle surge, and stalling. Got a Vag-com scanner and has no faultcodes present. Installed a newly rebuilt throttle body and still has same condition. Wondering if anyone has run into this before,Thanks

Sounds like vacuum problems.

Hi,
Did you find a resolution to the throttle surge / stall problem?
Cheers.

Don't think the OP is going to respond to a two year old thread, its best to make a new thread. However let me save you the trouble, you most likely have a vacuum leak, and a vag com scan tool can verify that www.ross-tech.com

Was worth a punt.
Have VCDS and there are no DTC's.
MAF cleaned. Gonna have a garage clean the Throttle Body & check IAT Sensor, MAP Sensor & Vacuum Hose. Access is too tight for me on the V6.
Best course of action IYO?

I do remember this car ,it's been a while. I ended up finding water in the fuel system, installed some dry gas and filled the tank with good high octane. drove car for a day and it was fixed!! hope this helps

^^^I stand corrected, i have never seen someone with less than 10 posts reply to a thread more than a year old, im shocked.....

However water in the fuel system is very rare, i would first check all your vacuum lines first, then check throttle body for carbon build up, clean the intake with seafoam, then after all that drain the fuel system and change out the gas.

If you don't have any lean codes or any other faults in engine control module then I think your wasting your time with the vacum leaks or throttle service. These engines are really sensitive to vacum leaks and throttle adaption. I think it's with trying some octane boost and good gas before you spend the money that's not going to fix it. Also I do remember reading a tsb for misfiring and idle problem. Audi says a reflash of engine control is the fix. Hope this helps.
