04 1.8T CEL on, coil pack question
Hello all, while driving my 04 1.8T a few days ago. The car suddenly started sputtering, and acceleration was very hesitant after taking off from a stop light. the CEL came on and was blinking during acceleration, and would just stay lit after holding steady speed. After taking it to Auto Zone to get it checked, the trouble code is P0301, which is cylinder no. 1 is misfiring. I purchased the ignition coil directly from Audi, and swapped the spark plugs. (which seem to be ok). The car accelerates and runs fine now, but the CEL is just steady on. I took the car back to Auto Zone to have it scanned, and the same trouble code comes up, even though the coil has been changed, and the vehicle runs fine. I do hear a slight ticking noise though coming from the engine, but can figure out from where..
Help!!!!!
Help!!!!!
I probably did have this ticking noise before, but because it's so faint, you can only hear it with the hood open, and the engine cover off. It sounds like a misfire. I should probably change the spark plugs, but according to the maintenance records, the plugs where replaced at 35K, the car only has 40K
You should actually hear the misfire. If u think that ticking noise is actually a misfire, do this. Clear the code, and if it comes back with the same result then you would know it is prolly a misfire for sure. Maybe the gap they used was wrong. Or maybe u got a vaccum leak. Do u hear any air sucking in/out when the hood is open?
i have heard that ticking noise in my hood before. I think it might be your injector. Check where ur injectors our and listen to each one. I dont know if there is a soultion to this or not ive heard that thats just how loud our injectors our but it sounded very loud to me.
Hello all, and thanks for all the replies. After work today, I went to my trusted mechanic, and they cleared the code for me, and was told that the slight ticking noise is common in these times of vehicles. I guess I was just freakin' out because I just bought this car less than two months ago, and I did not buy an extended warranty. (Audi wanted 3 grand for this). My new problem is that I just replaced the disks and pads on all wheels, but the dashboard warning light still pops up letting me know my pads are worn out!!! I guess it never ends...
