Default 05 1.8T Mods

I've posted a thread a while backing inquiring about my gas mileage and why i get 240-280 a tank. I did my tire pressure, oil change, got it serviced(spark plugs, etc) and it's still pretty bad. I've just come to the conclusion that it's because i drive the city. Now i need a new water pump and tensioner timing belt, and once i get that out of the way,
What mods should i put into the car? Better mileage would be great with todays gas prices and also, it has very slow acceleration(I get smoked on green lights by damn near every car.) I think i expected too much from Audi.

u expected to much from the 1.8 platform. Keep in mind our curb weight is something near 3500. have you changed your fuel filter. Maybe even run a can of seafoam thru the crankcase manifold gas tank. That might help mileage a bit. as for mods depends on how much u willing to spend. chipping the car runs 500 thru apr. you can always upgrade the turbo intercooler injectors and that will make the car semi respectable.

Yea fuel filter was changed. And do I put the seafoam straight in the tank? Also I'm willing to put in a bit as long as the car is reliable because I just got it a couple months ago and I only has 60k miles on it. But if takes constant money to keep it running then no. How much will the interjector coolers run me? Will it affect mileage?

Simple you have a great platform in the 1.8T. I have an A4 1.8T and and all its had is a remap by ABT, one of the best Audi tuners going. I got an increase from 150bhp to 225Bhp and what a diffference that makes. Get your car remapped and the incidents at the green light will be a thing of the past, trust me.

well if u have replaced ur fuel filter recently i would hold off on seafoam in the gas tank. Alot of times they save it breaks up stuff and its best to change the filter after u put the seafoam in the tank. Though next time u change your oil u can throw some seafoam in the crank case. drive around for a bit maybe 25 50 miles then do ur oil change as normal and i Also recommend changing the spark plugs if u do this. And as for chipping options there are a number of brands giac unitronic apr abt. All do about the same just pick a dealer close to you.

How did this affect your gas mileage?

And yea i already did my spark plugs too, with the service. I'll do the seafoam before my next oil change though.

Are you popping any codes at all?? I would suspect a serious issue if your car feels slow, it could be something as simple as a vacuum leak, or a boost leak possibly. Even a faulty diverter valve or something that is making you not hit full boost.

After you figure out the issue I would go ahead and get some aftermarket software on the car. There are plenty of choices like APR, REVO, GIAC, and probably a few others. Once you do that go ahead and get a bolt on exhaust system (maybe full exhaust or cat-back)

But if your car is feeling really sluggish it would probably suggest a problem that should be addressed before adding more power.

No codes.
And I took it to get seduced at the dealer, they didn't tell me anything about diverted valves. They just said water pump and timing belt. Would they have told me?
