12v battery question
Hi all,
I just recently found a small refigerator that has a 12v car outlet for it. I was curious if it worked when the car was off and found that it did. My question is, if i have it turned on for an extended period of time will the car just die? Does the car have any type of regulator for this type of usage? I wanted to know because, if i could have that on all the time, then i could always keep stuff in my car.
BTW, i have an 03' A4 Avant
Thanks,
-Derek

I have one of those somewhere around my house. It will be perfectly fine when you are driving but if you leave the car off it will drain your battery. If you wanted to leave it in there for the day if you periodically just started your car and let the engine run for a few minutes it should be fine also.
if its absolutely needed to have he fridge on when the car is off , you could run another battery out of your trunk it should be a deep cycle gel battery you will also need some 4gauge wire to go the length of the car , a switch that switches the recharging from one battery to another, and a 100-140amp circuit breaker. after all that installed you could run a lamp tv out of ur car without noticing power drops and should be fine leaving ur fridge on for a day
