2002 3.0 head gasket issue
First post:
To start, I'm looking at buying this car. I won't ask about what I should look at when I go to see it. However, the current owner states that there is coolant in the oil. With my mechanical background, that could be: cracked head, cracked block, or bad head gaskets (I know there are other reasons, but they aren't as common). My question is, how common is it to have the head gaskets go on these motors since in my experience that's the main reason for oil/coolant mixing. I'm not familiar with Audi's at all (I'm mainly a Subaru guy). This car has 17x,xxx miles on it, 6 speed quattro. I originally wasn't looking for an Audi, but the price is hard to beat as long as the body, interior, and electronics are in good shape. Curious to what you all think.
