2003 3.0L... common issue? hesitation at idle
I did a few searches here before I started this thread, didn't find much... so please don't flame me if this has been covered.
We bought a nice-enough 2003 3.0L A4... 3 days later CEL and we replaced both the MAF and the drivers side intake cam sensor.. CEL gone - but - we still have a massively annoying lag in acceleration after sitting at idle. You can't just give it the gas and take off, you have to take your foot off the brake and wait until the car starts to roll a bit on it's own then softly press the pedal. If you just press the pedal the car will jerk and lurch and most likely die, or just just jerk, jerk, and then accelerate. I'm guessing throttle body - but I'm guessing.
I did the 5-second throttle reset. Helped, I thought, then it reverted back to the usual.
Going in to auto/manual mode helps a bit. Car idles perfectly in neutral or in park, but has a slight variance when in gear and at a stop (might die, but that's 1 out of 20 times). Besides the stop-and-go issue the car is running perfectly with no other odd behavior.
This is my first time in Audi since the 1980's - it's fix or fly (darn it)

If you want to reset the throttle, use the VAG to do so. It has been pointed out that the manual reset does not work. I would do that plus CLEAN your throttle body really well. I'm GUESSING, as you are, that since the MAF was bad and the cam sensor, the ECM (computer) and throttle body Module, got 'used' to the way it was running before. Now that you replaced those two parts, it needs to 're-learn' how to run properly (again, all this is a guess). See if your throttle body is dirty, clean it, but if you have a VAG, reset the the throttle body with it, then see how it does.
Basically, it the modules were adjusted for the OLD components at idle, now with a new MAF etc., it's 'breathing' better and you're getting this hesitation....
