2004 A4 1.8T MT6
Opinions solicited. Test drove a 2004 with just under 69K miles this weekend. Needs to have rear tires replaced (fronts look to be stock Conti's 235/45-17) because some moron put on some cheap Jap brand 235/50-17s. I'll replace with matchingConti's. Other blems include a intermittently working temp gauge, a ding in the windshield (not cracked), and a poorly repaired dent in the lower left rear quarter just behind the wheel. Everything else I could test works.Owner will take $12,500.
Is this reasonable or should I keep looking? Car will be lightly used (~5k per year) for the next 4-6 years.
Alternative is a 2003 A4 with 3.0l and MT6 with about the same mileage, matching good rubber, o dings, might need rotors/brakes, and everything works. It has an extended warranty that might transfer. I think I could get it for $13-13.5.

stay away from the 3.0 engines as you can see, there is a thread now about a guy with a blown engine..
keep in mind its due for its timing belt service, i would have him knock off $1k for that then DIY for $250

well, read about the half dozen or more people on here with blown 3.0 engine, sheared cams and audi techs who gave inside info on all the trouble the 3.0 had... not to mention how much more the timing belt service is on it and how the cats fail on them about 80-100k (usually once you are out of warranty) and then you are stuck paying $800 a pop plus some major labor
