2004 A4 comfort control module location
I have been in several threads in an effort to find the location of the Comfort Control Module (CCM) in my "new to me" 2004 A4 1.8L Turbo.
Just to be clear, the part number of the piece I am referring to as the CCM is; 8E0 907 279 F
Many threads indicated that it is under the floor carpet under the driver's seat.
However, I removed the inspection panel on the driver's side of the dash.
Behind the fuse block, towards the front of the car a couple of inches, one can see it.
To access it I removed the 2- 8mm bolts at the bottom of the knee trim panel, one on the left and one on the right. The panel then was removed by pulling the top of the panel towards the steering wheel (towards the seat). The clips at the top released with some pulling pressure. There are 2 plugs, one for the foot light and one for the OBDII connector. Unclip and remove them.
I then removed the fuse block by removing the 2- 10mm bolts. With the fuse block out of the way I was able to access the 10mm nut on the left of the CCM. The 10mm nut on the right was easily accessed.
On the CCM I removed the 3 metal fuses and was able to, then, remove their connectors by using a very small flat screw driver to relieve the clips within the connectors. These 3 connectors then slid off. You must reach inside of the connectors an release the clips.
The other connectors came off in obvious ways.
I installed the replacement CCM, a 8E0 907 279 E (Note the final digit), in reverse of removal of the old CCM. Remembering that the 10mm nuts were only "finger tight" when removed. Too tight and the plastic would crack.
