Default A4 1.8t Avant, P0302

2004 A4 1.8t Avant, P0302 #2 cylinder misfire.
I just wanted to share my recent experience with this code on my Audi.

Step 1: I changed my #2 coil pack with my #3 coil pack. Cleared the codes then ran for a few days and the code returned. The car would start up with a rough idle then the CEL would flash then go solid and then the engine would smooth out and run fine. While driving if I drove it easy no misfires occurred. But driving it hard and putting a heavier load on the engine a misfire on #2 cylinder would occur.

Step 2: I checked fuel pressure, about 59-60 psi, which according to the specs I found is good. I then used a wooden dowel to listen to each injector. #2 injector sounds a bit weak compared to the other 3. Possibly suspect #2 injector is bad or going bad.I replaced the spark plugs, cleared the codes and so far the code has not returned. Upon starting the car it idled smoothly with no recorded misfires. I will update this post once I take it for a drive.

Upon starting the engine the CEL was blinking. I pulled the codes and now have P0012 CAM timing retarded and the P0302 #2 cylinder misfire.

Has anyone had these two codes show up at the same time and what did you do to solve the problem??
