My air conditioner on my 2003 audi a4 1.8T quattro hasn't worked in years (I don't like the air conditioner)...but I am in texas doing a project and it's going to get really hot down here soon so I need it.

I took the car to the mechanic today thinking I just needed freon, but the freon level is fantastic (110 psi). He took a look at the compressor and said it was working but not doing anything. He didn't have time to take a closer look.

How do I go about figuring out what is wrong and fixing it??

Thanks.

Never mind guys it was the freon. The other mechanic either lied or hooked up the freon to recharge to the high pressure line instead of the low pressure line.

I took it for a second opinion and this mechanic said when u hear a clicking noise from the compressor its usually low on freon.

Now my air conditioner is freezing cold.........
