Default Another cvt question?

I have been looking into doing a fluid change and filter replacement in my 2003 a4 cvt. Is this possible to do myself ?? I spoke to a independent mechanic they quoted me 200 dollars which sounded pretty fair. I also called the dealership and they are saying that if my car missed its 35k maintenance there is a chance that of they change the fluid the transmission may stop working is there any truth to this ?? It sounds bogus to me but I figured a few extra opinions from some knowledgable people wouldnt hurt. Any help is greatly appreciated. And also if I could do this myself what tools would I need?? Oh and my car is about to hit 75k if that matters.

its the same with all transmissions. If the fluid isn't consistently changed at every required interval it could do more harm than good to change it.

did you ask the dealer what they would charge to do it...? I don't know if i would trust an Indy. CVTs are finicky.... You need the Audi fluid, not aftermarket equivalent... The filter is external to the trans so its easy. But making sure the level is right is key since there is no dipstick.

The dealer isn't sure if they even want to do it and they want like 450 to do it. The indy place I spoke with is a european speciality shop and they said they have worked on quite a few cvts. They said they do use the audi fluid and stuff like that I'm just worried this is gonna ruin the transmission and I won't have the money to replace it so I'm kinda in a tough spot not sure what to do. Is there a way to find out if my vehicle had the 35k maintenance done ??

My car was getting jolt, but after changing transmission fluids at the local auto shop, it works fine and I'm not getting any jolts anymore. They got everything right and I'm very happy with their work. They also used Audi fluids (oil or w/e its called for transmission)
